At New Monument Primary School we believe that a healthy balanced diet plays a huge part in our children's ability to arrive in the classroom ready to learn. Our caterers, PS Catering, provide a varied menu each week, including a salad bar. We offer Halal and vegetarian meals.
Meals are provided daily in the school hall which are freshly cooked on the premises. Every effort is made to cater for all children including those who require Halal meat and those who are vegetarian.
The children are supervised throughout the lunch break by school staff. Children choose and remain with that choice for half a term period.
Under the Universal Free School Meals initiative, a free meal is offered to every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
Free school dinners may be available to children whose parents are in receipt of certain benefits. Please enquire at the School Office for a form if you think you qualify.
Payments
Parents of children in Years 3 to 6 who choose to have school meals must pay in advance. Please kindly remember to keep your online dinner money account in credit. Payments are to be made through the school’s Arbor online payment system. The cost of a meal for children Years 3 to 6 is £2.70 per day, £13.50 per week per child. This is payable in advance via the log in below.
Free School Meals
Your child may be entitled to Free School Meals. Please check with the school office if you think you may be eligible and/or if you require an application form. If you want to find out more about free school meals eligibility, please visit the Government website.
Packed Lunch
Children can bring a packed lunch to school in a suitable container. This food should be healthy in nature (including fruit and vegetables) and exclude items high in salt / sugar and fizzy drinks.
Please note we have children with severe allergies including, nuts and sesame seeds, we therefore ask that packed lunches do not contain any nuts or sesame seeds, including Nutella and peanut butter.
Please note that if you want to change to/from a packed lunch and to/from school dinners you must give two weeks' notice in writing, either by email or letter to the school office.
Reception and Key Stage 1 will be provided with a piece of fruit each day as part of the Government’s “School Fruit and Vegetable” Scheme. KS2 children may bring a piece of fruit for mid-morning break.
